The latchkey kids. The mixtape makers. The original skeptics. Raised on commercials, MTV, John Hughes films and the knowledge that we had to fend for ourselves… still working our asses off, still wondering when we’ll catch a break, and still watching other generations get all the attention.

This blog is for us. The forgotten middle child. The ones who were told if we worked hard enough and played by the rules, we would get what we deserve – only to watch as they changed the rules and raised the bars just out of reach. We’ve worked and we’ve voted and we’ve paid our taxes and we still have no idea if we’ll ever be able to retire. We still don’t have a role model who speaks to what it’s like to be us.

This blog is about us. I’m a Gen X writer, pop culture junkie, and lifelong questioner of authority. I’ve worked, cared for my kids and my parents, reinvented myself more times than I can count, and I’ve watched my generation quietly hold it together while getting very little credit for it. I’m here to write about what matters to us and what it means to be Gen X in a world that still doesn’t quite know what to do with us.
